Introduction
About the role of literature and the importance of
music, the agrees of many writers are not the same. If we consider literature
and music as the arts, we can say with Guy De Maupassant that “art is a very
good lie”. We understand with Guy that the principal aim of art is not to tell
truth, is not to search to result social problems; but is to hide and mask the
truth social evil. This point of view is contradictory with the one of Albert
Camus in discours de suède who thinks
that art in general; literature and music in particular are the very arm against
social scourge. In this context, that’s not surprising to understand him assert
that “the role of writer, at the same time is inseparable of difficult
obligation”. Of this contradiction, springs the problem of importance of
literature and that one of role of music. To that end, how literature and music
are so useful in the society?
Role of literature
1 – To express feeling
Generally, when we talk about role of literature, it
is firstly in the intention to make reference at the trend to express feeling. The
idea according to which by the link of literature, the writers have occasion to
express theirs feeling make proof of the capital role of literature. Sure
enough, in this condition, it is possible to say that the writers use the
average of literature to present theirs thoughts to someone. These thoughts can
be asking excuse, it can be expressing one love; it can be the occasion to
remember some event with another person. At the topic of remember, we can
illustrate it in Balafon with the
three letters of Engelbert Mveng at his friends KONG-FU-TSEU, ROLAND-ROGER, and
MOTECZUMA; and also his poem you will ‘recome Senegal’ where he remember the
stay of Senegal community in Cameroon.
2 – To fight against social evil
Secondly, the literature has this capacity to be an
arm for social using. The strength of this arm is the words, the pen and the
ink of writer, above all of them; we may situate his intellect which has the
faculty of reflection about the preoccupation of society. In that respect, the
writers use his intellect that has his source in society to fight against evil
which gangrene that society. His method is denunciation by the link of literary
writing. That’s so important to remember that, the writer has this possibility
to suggest solution about certain tare; but his first work is denunciation. It’s
in the same context than André Brink in one
season dry and white spread out at the eyes of any body the functioning of
segregation system which take place in South Africa. Camus Albert thinks that
in the same line does make size of writing work is the promotion of truth and
that one of liberty.
Importance
of music

Entertainment objects and trigger
Right away,
it is incontestable that when we are in front music it’s no only for understand
lessons which can pull, but also for entertainment and trigger; even if they
are not separable. We can not leave out that fact that music has also the
faculty of expression of feeling. The insistence here is making on his capacity
to calm down the spirits tired; that’s does make the importance of music. The
first impression when we understand music is in report the junction of sound,
this junction has his reason to be because it like to the persons otherwise, it
will not until useful. The proof is that music makes dancing and remembering it
depends of style of music. Other proof; it’s difficult to resist to sing when
we listening certain music; in particular show music.
2 – Famous
middle of denunciation
Likewise, the
music has this function of denunciation like literature; except that she uses
another method and mode. Between literature and music, the famous middle of
denunciation is music because many persons in the world don’t like read. Many
of them are analphabet. With this predisposition, it is clear that the capital importance
of music lives in the fact that he is vocal and do not ask more effort to
understand by opposite to literature which ask reading and comprehension. We
don’t forget the fact that we have certain music in other tongue. The precision
here is making on the music that we understand; even if music has codes and
others signals which are not perceived by every body. So that, the denunciation of social evil is
more effective with music than literature. As, by way of justification, we can
only understand the first music of Longue Longue where the denunciation of
colonialicism and his effects were very effective.
Conclusion
At the end of our work, we call back the problem which
was that one of role of literature and importance of music. The first time we
presented the role of literature which lives in the expression of feeling and
fighting social evil. In the second time, we analyzed importance of music which
finds his justification in entertainment, trigger
and denunciation.
